After successfully completing the first round of user tests, the Synereo team is proud to publicly announce Qrator.

Qrator allows users to monetize original content, get rewarded for sharing quality with others as well as discover the best content on the web.

Qrator Alpha in Action

The first step towards Synereo’s vision of a freer and fairer Internet is the liberation of User Generated Content. We believe that UGC is the cornerstone of a future P2P media market, and for it to flourish and compete with existing outlets, a new business model has to be established – one that empowers independent journalists, artists, and bloggers, rather than the platforms tucked between them and their audiences.

Qrator lays the groundwork for just that – giving you a first glimpse of an Attention Economy that puts Creators and Curators on top of the Internet’s monetary food chain.

The Beta for Qrator will be released in June.

In the upcoming months and beyond the release, Qrator will continue evolving into a decentralized Attention Economy Layer, including a distributed content delivery network, allowing users to upload content directly to a Synereo distributed CDN. Throughout that time, Qrator will serve the Synereo project in building a cross-platform social graph, laying the ground for the network effects necessary for a fully populated, decentralized social networking platform.

How it works

Qrator’s closest touch-point to the existing Internet is a browser extension that follows you throughout your exploits on different Content Hubs, allowing you to Amplify content you appreciate (or simply think is going to generate a lot of attention) using AMPs – Synereo’s cryptocurrency.

After choosing the desired amount of AMPs to be invested in a piece of content, Qrator generates a unique link, associated with your account, which you can then share on social networks or otherwise distribute as you see fit.

Your friends and followers, clicking on the link, will be directed to this content embedded in the Qrator site and presented with the option to Amplify and share it as well. If they choose to do so, a share of the AMPs invested by them will be credited to you and to the Curator you discovered the content through, while a significant part will be handed to the original content creator. The more AMPs you invest in the content, and the more views you generate through the link yourself, the higher will be your reward from future Amplifications.

This way, content creators can derive income from their work, while curators are incentivized to find promising content and distribute it to audiences interested in it.

From the Creator side of the game, there’s the ability to place a bounty on their content – collected by users who can distribute it successfully, bringing views, subscriptions, and Amplifications. This allows the Creator to break the boundaries of his organic reach, Amplifying their work in the traditional Synereo sense.

Power users, or professional Curators and Creators, can monitor their statistics on the Qrator site through a comprehensive dashboard. This allows them to analyze the added value they’ve created in terms of reach and traffic, and understand how their activities affect their AMP dividends.

The Amplification Tree established through mutual amplifications and shares is used to create a cross-platform, decentralized social graph from which a notification feed is derived on the Qrator site, giving you direct access to high quality, AMP-worthy content. This also lays the bedrock for Synereo’s future decentralized social network.

Beyond the extension

After establishing a solid network, built on top of popular, existing Internet destinations, Qrator will also function through a distributed content delivery network, allowing users to directly upload content to the Synereo CDN, bypassing providers like YouTube and their centralized servers entirely. With this, the independent decentralized social network, adhering to Synereo’s Attention Economy model, owned & operated by its users, will become a reality.

With information gathered through Qrator and the Attention Economy toolkit, and with a strong network effect bootstrapped relying on existing networks, Synereo will be able to hit the ground running with its decentralized social networking app – already populated with users, their social graphs, their identities and histories – all securely stored on the blockchain, privately owned, accessible and controlled by them only.

The Synereo team is looking down a long road; an exciting and promising one, with tangible deliverables that address real-world needs in the immediate future. We are grateful for the privilege of walking this road with you – our diligent and opinionated community of involved members, without which this project would be unimaginable.

We appreciate your attention,

— The Synereo Team
